The Gateway Project is a plan that was developed by the Main Street Association for Growth for the purpose of revitalizing downtown Wellsville. The committee consists of members of our downtown business district, community residents, the Village government and the Wellsville Area Chamber of Commerce. The project is being funded in several ways, none of which includes taxpayer dollars. With the help of Senator Pat McGee and Assemblywoman Catherine Young, a grant was given to the Village specifically earmarked for the construction of the Gateway. Additional funds were obtained for ornamental lighting through the Independent Energy Efficiency Program. The project includes the installation of architectural fencing along the arterial, an overhead sign, trees, and landscaping.
